In Ayurveda it is used in colic, indigestion and enlargement of the Liver and spleen and regarded as the best of Salts.
Prepared Salts are more commonly used due to its low cost and easy availability. Rock salt purified by nature and is stronger and more superior to ordinary salt.
It is obtained from the mines of Sindh, or the country among the Indus. This salt is obtained from deep mines. The rocks are somewhat pink in color, and the more transparent rocks indicate its maximum purity. It also contains some parts of Magnesium and Potassium which is more superior.
When used as per the natural requirement of the body, it improves appetite, digestive fire, digestion (when used with meals), and expel wind from the digestive systems. Beneficial to the eyes, and helps in healing of wounds and improves bile secretion.

Ayurvedic Concept
Acidity is described as “Amla Pitta” in Ayurveda and, commonly, it occurs due to faulty eating habits because the pitta (fire) gets vitiated. This vitiation produces symptoms like indigestion, tiredness, nausea, acidic belching, heaviness in body, heartburn, anorexia, laziness and burning sensations.
Acidity ("Amla pitta") is of two types:
1. Urdhva Amla Pitta (fire) (Acidity in upper abdomen)
Kapha (water) associated with ama (undigested food) is the main cause in this type. One may have vomiting of greenish yellow color and acidic in taste, belching of the taste of food taken, heart burning, burning sensation in soles and feet, anorexia, fever, skin rashes and itching may occur.
2. Adhog Amla Pitta (fire) (Acidity or burning in lower abdomen)
Pitta (fire) associated with ama (undigested food) is the main dosha (humor) in this case. One may have burning sensation during defecation, thirst, vertigo, passing slur (unformed stool) of greenish or blackish color, nausea, urticaria, indigestion, sweating and yellowish color of the body.

Harar (Terminalia Chebula)- Mild laxative.
Clove (Myrtus Caryophyllus)-Decrease acidity by its digestive action and by stimulating secretion of gastric juices. Also pacify the burning action of the Pitta.
