Antiarthritic herb


As Dietary Supplement
Guggulu helps to remove toxins from the body and improves joint health and flexibility. Guggulu may also be used in conjunction with a weight reduction program.

According to Ayurveda
Guggulu is beneficial for arthritis, hyper-cholesterol, debility, diabetes and secretions such as mucous, sweat and urination. It helps in cases of endometritis, gout, hemorrhoids and is fat reducing. It heals skin and mucus membranes, hemorrhoids and increases white blood cell count. It is good for indigestion, leucorrhea, lumbago, nervous disorders, neurosis, obesity, throat ulcers, skin diseases, sores. It is tissue regenerating, menstrual regulator, heals bones fractures and is toxin-reducing. Guggulu has been used for tumors, ulcers, whooping cough, edema (inflammation), cervical pain, parasitic infections, abscesses, rheumatic disorders, fevers, rheumatism when used in combination with different herbs.
Precautions
Unpurified Guggulu: May cause diarrhea, upset digestion (heating sensation in the stomach) and skin irritation, so guggul in purified form is highly recommended. Guggulu, when used alone, is hot in nature. It is excellent for vatta (air) conditions but contraindicated in high pitta (fire) conditions, acute kidney infections and rashes. Avoid eating sour, sharp indigestible foods. Avoid excessive exhaustion, sex, sun exposure, alcohol and anger when taking this herb.
